Advantages and disadvantage of knitted fabrics

Advantages of knitted fabrics

1, scalability. Knitted garments are made up of yarns that are bent into a loop and are sleeved together. The coils have large expansion and contraction space above and below, so they have good elasticity, which makes them fit and comfortable when worn. It is comfortable and convenient. The body is required to stretch and bend when exercising.

2, softness. The raw materials used for knitted clothes are fluffy and soft yarns, and the surface of the cloth has a small layer of suede. Together with the loose structure of the coil, it can reduce the friction between the skin and the surface when worn. A comfortable and gentle feeling.

3. Hygroscopicity and gas permeability. Since the coils constituting the knitted fabric are entangled with each other to form an infinite number of isolated air pockets, they have good hygroscopicity and gas permeability.

4, anti-wrinkle. When the knitted fabric is subjected to wrinkle external force, the coil can be transferred to adapt to the deformation under stress; when the wrinkle force disappears, the transferred yarn can be quickly restored and remain in the original state.

Shortcomings of knitted fabrics

1. Knitted fabrics are easy to disperse. When the yarn on the knitted fabric breaks or the coil loses the string contact, causing the separation between the coils, the coil will be dissipated in the longitudinal direction, which will affect the appearance and strength of the knitted fabric.

2. Poor dimensional stability. In addition to chemical fiber knitted fabrics, other knitted fabrics have different degrees of shrinkage.

3, easy to hook and hair, pilling. Due to the loose structure of the knitted fabric, the fibers on the fabric are easily ejected by sharp objects to form a loop during processing and use.

Common seen knitted fabric

1, jersey. The jersey is composed of continuous loops of tissue. Its light weight, extensibility, elasticity and breathability, it can absorb sweat well, and it is cool and comfortable to wear.

2, rib. A rib knitted fabric is a knitted fabric in which a yarn is longitudinally formed on the front side and the back side in a row. It has the dispersibility, curling and extensibility of plain weave fabric, while also having greater elasticity.

3, terry cloth. The terry cloth is one of the varieties of knitted fabrics. When weaving, some yarns appear as coils on the remaining yarns of the fabric in a certain proportion and stay on the surface of the fabric, which is a terry cloth. The terry cloth is usually thicker and can hold more air, so it is warm.
